Our home has a small kitchen pantry with awkwardly deep and dark shelves where it was easy for supplies to get “lost.” This ended up with duplicate and/or outdated items and lots of waste. Cliff totally redesigned my pantry and now it is bright and light and I can easily find foodstuffs on the properly sized shelves and pull out drawers. But best of all is the “Lazy Lee”. It’s a ginormous lazy susan 7 1/2 feet tall with an amazing configuration of shelves and the deepest and darkest part of the pantry is now transformed. I am absolutely infatuated with my new pantry and no one stops by the house without getting a tour! The folks at Austin-Morgan Closets were immensely professional, always on time, detailed-oriented, and quick to provide answers to all my questions. Their pantry design was the most innovative of any I received and pricing very reasonable. I am so happy with my new pantry, although my husband says: “Now you’ll never move!”

We were looking for a way to convert a 3rd bedroom into a usable home office, while keeping a guest bedroom AND making room for an elliptical. We met Cliff at the Maricopa Home Show and made an appointment for a consultation the following week. They were quick to accommodate a reschedule on our part, and Cliff was full of ideas on how to best utilize the small space without changing the room so significantly that it would no longer have closet space for a bedroom. We discussed several concepts and colors and he left to design options based on the room and closet dimensions. He provided us with a detailed diagram within a week, and we were very excited about the design, which included a desk integrated into the closet and a Murphy bed and nightstand for our guests. We have a 3 sliding door closet and he suggested removing one of the doors, re-configuring the bars for hangers and adding a desktop, shelves, drawers and a cabinet.

By removing one of the doors, we have full access to the desk, and when not being used as a desk we can move (close) one of the doors and it looks like a closet with built-in dresser drawers and a cabinet. Cliff was extremely helpful in offering suggestions on color and design that were consistent with our house, and Cliff was super responsive to all of our questions, of which we had many. Some of the components for the Murphy bed were delivered in the wrong color, but Cliff still came out to install the desk, making this a longer job than he had anticipated. The quality of his work and his attention to detail were impressive, and he even spackled over some rough patches that we did ourselves. Cliff is a perfectionist and was determined to make everything look great. We could not be happier with our finished project and will use him again and would not hesitate to recommend Austin-Morgan Closets design and installation services. Cliff made a post installation visit to show us how the Murphy bed locks and unlocks.

If I could give 10 stars I would! I went with Cliff at Austin Morgan Closets. I got several bids, from the other shops in town and then I got so lucky to find AMC! Not sure why they didn’t come up on my searches to start with. I had a massive job and I didn’t want to sell a kidney to get it done – and he made that happen. Clifford was the absolute best price AND Quickest response in meeting up with me, and literally the best and fastest design turnaround (1 day! – and he did NOT look at the designs from the other bids and he did his own measuring) and the fastest stated, and actualized, turn around from design (which he sent over in 2D and super cool 3D walk through!) to install. He was (only a couple weeks out versus the other outfits 3-4 months) and he is super efficient, clean, respectful and communicative. I have a 10k sq ft home and my job had several small areas; laundry, coat, storage closets, and 3 large walk-in master closets, this is a custom house (no 90 degree angles!) so it was wonderful that didn’t scare Cliff at all either – I had Home Depot guy come in and not get back to me for weeks and the end design was plain and awful as he didn’t listen to me at all. I had another outfit that wouldn’t even look at my job unless I was willing to commit to spending $60k at a minimum, I had another outfit say that they couldn’t make the corners go together because of the weird angles – so we would be left with gaps there, another outfit said we had to put 85% down and I said hell no- to ‘ease my fear’ the ‘big wig’ there called me and invited me and my designer to drive to their operations facility in Peoria or Payson (sorry I get the cities mixed up- it began with a P) and show is the facility and take us to lunch. Lol! I want closets – not to get ripped off and taken to a fancy lunch. – I don’t recall which outfit was which, – but I tried Classy, California, Closet by Design, The Container Store, Inspired Closets and The Closet and container store.
In our construction climate I was worried about the down payment Austin Morgan policy required: 50% which = $16,800 for us, but with all the good reviews and other companies wanting more $ down, I thought it was a risk worth taking – and dang it I needed my closets in! It ended up perfect with AMC, Which hardly ever happens with contractors these days. He went above and beyond as well! Cliff didn’t like the pulls that originally came in as he thought they were too cheap feeling – he took the initiative and ordered heavier ones, (we were going for a specific look and he got the pulls – don’t forget to nail down the pulls for your closet and communicate it), he gave me a rod that I was missing from another closet that came with the house (I am a home renovator who decided to live in this home). He also came back and added a couple of extra shelves where It turned out they could be utilized after it was all said and done and he was finished with the job – he did not charge me one more red cent for these things. Even with cool 3D walk-though, reality is ‘actually real’ and you start to use a space and utilization opportunity presented itself for me and more storage trumped design for me.
Also important, Cliff didn’t give me the ‘you have a big house price mark-up.’ Like I have gotten so many times on this job. He was approximately 1/4 to 1/2 less than the price of the other outfits. The closets look great and are functional and I had a wonderful experience with AMC.

The design results provided by Austin-Morgan were much better than either of the other two firms and showed a real attention to detail. Let me start this review by stating that we had a closet designed and built by Austin-Morgan Closets in the Phoenix area and have been wonderfully pleased. Having said that, let me share the entire experience… My wife and recently downsized and, with the smaller home, came a smaller closet. In the past, we have had one large closet professionally built and have also built out two smaller closets on our own. We were pleased with the outcome of all of our previous endeavors but didn’t really wish to do the work ourselves this time around. To aid us in our search we went to a Home and Garden show in Phoenix where there were dozens of businesses available to choose from. Perhaps you have done this and can appreciate eliminating half of the companies within the first 30 seconds of an attempted interaction. The mismatches came from a variety of situations from feeling that we were bothering them to a feeling that we were not looking to spend enough to make it worth their time to just the wrong personal interaction. When we met the husband and wife team behind Austin-Morgan, we were immediately impressed. Cliff had a background in construction and was able to combine personality with knowledge of the trade so we set up an in-home appointment. We also set up one other appointment with a different contractor as well as providing contact information with a third company (that wasn’t able to set up an appointment during the show — a definite missed opportunity). We received email communication from Austin-Morgan throughout the process, including appointment reminders and all set appointment times were met. During the free in-home estimate process, the husband and wife combination worked well together and were very personable. Cliff showed great attention to detail, noting as an example, that our two closet walls were 1/4″ different in length. They listened to what we wanted out of our closet but we left the design details to them for the first round. We received a detailed document of the proposed closet, along with all costs within the time indicated. Once we were able to look at the plan, my wife and I requested a couple of changes and those were quickly incorporated and returned to us. Based upon all factors: responsiveness of the Austin-Morgan team, personality, professionalism, flexibility, and cost, we chose them to do our closet. The work was completed as promised. During the installation, Cliff was not satisfied with two elements of the installation so he reordered and corrected the items he had identified. Our closet is now complete and we are extremely satisfied with the entire process. We wholeheartedly recommend Austin-Morgan for any project you have in mind.
