Gillian’s Closet – The Construction Phase
While Gillian and I are in the midst of redoing her closet, we had to find a temporary home for everything during the construction phase. A corner in our den became the area for the majority of her items. She also used her brother’s closet for all her clothes. It was quite funny to see how she moved all his items and quickly commanded half of his closet. I am so thankful that he is so easy going :-). With a clean slate, the demo could begin!
As you will see from the photos, the removal of the old system can make a bit of a mess. In no time at all it was patched, sanded and ready for paint. This gave us the opportunity to paint the closet the same color as her bedroom. Have to look on the bright side!
The material arrived on a Friday so we were able to do the installation over a weekend. Since this system was entirely floor based, it was slightly larger than the typical closet and required 9 hours to complete the installation. It was an exciting weekend to finally be at this point. Since she was gone for the entire weekend we were anxious to get the installation completed so we could surprise her when she came home.
